The theme for August at Quay Place is Community, one of our important emotional needs. We are social creatures who have a need to feel that we belong. Being part of a family, a workplace, volunteering and being members of faith groups helps us to meet the community. When this need is unmet we are at risk of becoming isolated and in adolescents an unmet need for community can cause young people to join groups which lead them astray. This month we will look at opportunities to meet the need to connect with others through many of our activities and events.
Colouring group - Mondays between 2.00pm - 4.00pm
Our adult colouring group is the ideal place to indulge your creative side. Learn about the heritage of the building too by colouring in images all linked to Quay Place. One of our volunteers Judy will be part of the group too so can help advise and encourage if you are new to colouring. A great opportunity to meet new people and chat while colouring! All pencils and templates provided.
The group is free to join and will meet between 2.00-4.00pm on Monday afternoons. Pre-booking not required just come along if and when you can.
Mondays - Beginner level class 6.15pm
The Monday class will be a mix of flowing sequences to warm the body and awareness of breath, to hold poses/stretches which will encourage flexibility and balance and tone the body. Laughter is encouraged and don’t worry there will be no chanting or headstands. We will close on a guided relaxation to quiet the mind and release stress.
Come and draw at Quay Place - Friday mornings 10.30am - 1.00pm
Do you enjoy drawing? It is fun, relaxing, and helps in developing a feeling of wellness. Colours and shapes are well known to promote emotion in both artists and viewers.
Paper, feltpens and pencils are available at the Church and you can drop by and use them when you like. You can draw the building, people around you, or anything else that you want. There are mirrors you can look in if you want to draw yourself, or get a new view of the building.

Having meaning and purpose in our lives can give us a reason to get out of bed in the morning, to persevere in the face of adversity and the resilience to cope with life challenges. Our need for meaning and purpose can also leave us vulnerable when we are struggling to find meaning and purpose. Our evening session will explore how meaning and purpose can protect meaning and purpose.
